Whale Fact Wednesday: Blue Whales love to eat the nutrient-rich Krill (2,000 lbs per day)! To have that kind of appetite means leaving behind an enormous amount of excrement. Yes, poop (the red stuff left over by this Blue Whale at the end of the video). That poop is so important because it's essentially ocean fertilizer, and is food for the phytoplankton, the organism that is the foundation of the food web here in Monterey Bay!
