Seymour was our first water buffalo rescue! While not as commonly used in the U.S., water buffalo are bred for their meat and milk, which are used to make products like Buffalo mozzarella. In the dairy industry, males are unwanted since they can’t produce milk. Their continued care costs more than any profit they would bring in, so farmers send them to slaughter.
