Today at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, on the 104th anniversary of the start of the Battle of Belleau Wood, we commemorate the sacrifice of those brave Marines by planting trees grown from acorns recovered from the site of the battle. The forest where this battle was fought was called Belleau Wood. After the battle, the French renamed the wood "Bois de la Brigade de Marine" or "Wood of the Marine Brigade", in honor of the Marines' tenacity. They have been or will soon be planted at Ma
