Te tō a Māui = Daylight savings ☀️Te tō a Māui literally means “the pull of Māui”, a reference to one of our Māui pūrākau (traditional stories) where Māui and his brother’s caught the sun with ropes and beat the sun so he would move slower across the sky. The slowing of the sun gave more daylight for mahi to be completed. When we have daylight savings we refer to the time change as Māui “pulling” on the ropes to slow the sun.I love how we can apply whakaaro Māori and pūrākau to Western concepts
