Representa al apóstol San Bartolomé tras su martirio, en el que fue desollado vivo. Lo que a primera vista parece una túnica o un manto sobre sus hombros es, en realidad, su propia piel arrancada.Dato curioso: En la base de la estatua, el artista dejó grabada una frase en latín: "Non me Praxiteles, sed Marc'finxit Agrat" ("No me hizo Praxíteles, sino Marco d'Agrate").
