Paul Newman made his bold directorial debut with RACHEL, RACHEL ('68) which stars his wife, Joanne Woodward as the titular character. Having studied both acting and directing at Yale, Paul Newman offered to direct and produce the project which was initially rejected by the studios – in addition to forming his own production company to supplement additional costs. Newman would later recall working with his wife enabled them communicate in a special language on the set that only they could underst
