🤘🐂 Longhorns aren’t just our mascot at The University of Texas at Austin — they’re a Texas legacy. Descended from cattle brought here in the 1500s, longhorns adapted to the harsh Texas climate and became icons of strength and resilience. UT adopted the longhorn in 1917, and the rest is Bevo history. But long before longhorns, Ice Age giants like 𝘉𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘶𝘴 roamed Texas prairies, shaping the landscape. This extinct species was a powerhouse, about 25% bigger than today’s bison.
