Jan. 16—TYLER — TxDOT Tyler District crews will proactively mobilize this Friday, Jan. 17, to begin early brine application on State roads in the eight counties the Tyler District serves.

TxDOT is also pre-treating bridges and overpasses with the same mixture of brine. To keep drivers safe.

TxDOT says 400 crew members will assist with 24-hour operations throughout the winter event to treat and monitor roads.

"It's a saltwater solution, and it helps prevent ice from bonding to roadways," Jeff Barker, a spokesperson for TxDOT, said of brine.
