A TikTok showing “No Kings” protesters in Napa singing “This Land Is Your Land” Saturday has gone viral. The song, written by Woodie Guthrie in 1940, is a famous American folk song. The video, shot by The Press Democrat’s Edward Booth has 624,000 views and more than 141,000 likes as of Monday morning.
Between activism, election results and protest turnout, the prevailing political winds suggest the backlash to the president is real.
"In America, we don't do kings," the No Kings website reads. "They've defied our courts, deported Americans, disappeared people off the streets, attacked our civil rights, and slashed our services. The corruption has gone too. far. [cq] No thrones. No crowns. No kings."
A 33-mile trip from one protest in Annapolis, Md., to the parade grandstand in front of the White House was like a journey between two different countries.
“ No Kings Day of Defiance” protests drew several thousand people around the Inland Empire throughout the day and into the night. At one point on Saturday evening, several hundred protesters present during the Riverside crash had merged with people who attended a large anti-ICE protest, which began earlier that day.
