The Detroit Tigers were able to pull off an upset in the American League Wild Card Round, as they eliminated the Houston Astros in two games. Coming into the postseason, the Tigers were one of the hottest teams in baseball.

Former Detroit Tiger and three-time Cy Young winner Justin Verlander was left off Houston's 26-man roster and is instead listed on its tax squad. The 41-year-old, who is a future hall-of-famer, has struggled this season since coming back from injury, posting a 5.48 ERA and a 5-6 record in 17 appearances this year.
