At the Historic Fort Wayne site in Detroit, the Detroit Historical Society preserves vintage vehicles from former auto shows and other special artifacts dating back decades.

The Detroit Auto Show, aka the North American International Auto Show, is starting over again. After a few years with warmer dates, the show has returned to frosty January. The show’s media days are scheduled for a single day on Friday, Jan. 10. The full show will extend to Jan. 20.

After a 30-year trip of glitzy reveals and celebrities, the Detroit Auto Show has shed its "international" moniker and returned to its local roots.

For the first time in five years, the Detroit Auto Show is being held in January. The show opens to the public on Saturday.

Law enforcement agencies and the trauma unit at DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital are prepared for any emergencies that could occur during the double weekend event.

Restaurant and bar operators say they expect moving the event back to its traditional January time will bring in more customers.
