P resident Donald Trump is reportedly finalizing an Executive Order that would attempt to dismantle the Department of Education, which would fulfill a campaign promise as he seeks to shrink the size of the federal government.

"Trump, Elon Musk, and his henchmen want to lock the promise of public education behind an ivory tower of rich people and throw away the key," U.S. Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., said.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Donald Trump is not asking the Federal Reserve to lower its short-term interest rates, but what he and the president do want is to bring down longer-term borrowing costs via 10-year Treasury yields.
