The governor traveled to Washington Tuesday to push for the release of frozen federal funds to Illinois and to warn of pending GOP budget cut to Medicaid affecting more than 700,000 Illinois residents.

Illinois Gov. Pritzker and various members of the Illinois congressional delegation have sent a letter to the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to demand accountability for $1.88 billion in federal funding being withheld from the state.

Pritzker traveled to Washington Tuesday to further sound the alarm on a pending GOP budget cut to Medicaid that will strip coverage for more than 700,000 Illinois residents.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker on Friday warned that neither his state nor others across the country could make up for the potential loss of billions of dollars if President Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans slash Medicaid funding.

Meanwhile, Pritzker also warned this week that as many as 770,000 Illinoisans stand to lose Medicaid health care coverage under a Republican-backed budget resolution that cleared the U.S. House Tuesday night.
