The Stillwater City Council approved final designs and plans for a new HealthPartners Lakeview Hospital on Tuesday.

Hospital officials say there will be 97 beds — two times the size of its current campus. Ground is set to be broken in July and HealthPartners says they plan to open the new hospital in 2027.

Mayo Clinic Health System plans to replace its aging hospital in Sparta, Wisconsin, by 2027. The new facility will offer modern healthcare services.

The current hospital is already often at more than 90% capacity with no ability to grow in its current location.
