Morrisey confirms flood-related death; parts of McDowell, Mercer counties still cut off by high water
Buttonwood Park in Mercer County sustained damage in the flood. The boardwalk that is part of the 55-acre lake was washed away. More than five inches of rain fell in parts of McDowell County. Brooks said they knew it was going to rain but not as much as it did.

BLUEFIELD - Water rescue operations were continuing Sunday and a high wind warning was issued after flash flooding occurred across the two-state region Saturday as heavy rainfall caused rivers and streams to rise and overflow.
State of Emergency declared for Mercer County amidst flooding
Emergency Management Director for Mercer County Keith Gunnoe has declared a State of Emergency for Mercer County as a result of flooding that is ongoing in the county this afternoon. Gunnoe is urging people to stay home and off the roadways in Mercer County as a result of vehicles being stalled and drivers subsequently needing rescued.
State of Emergency declared for Mercer County and evacuation center opened
PRINCETON, W.Va. (WVVA) - A state of emergency has been declared for Mercer County due to the storms. Emergency Management Director Keith Gunnoe urges people to stay off the roads and stay inside if possible. An emergency evacuation center has been opened at the Princeton Lifeline Center for anyone in need of shelter.
