A majority of banks will be closed on Jan. 19 to observe MLK Day, according to the Federal Reserve and American National Bank. MLK Day is a "bank holiday," meaning that a majority of banks and credit unions will be closed in observance of the federal holiday.

On Jan. 19, the United States will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. On Saturday, the Elmira-Corning NAACP celebrated the holiday with its annual brunch.
