President Donald Trump signaled on Sunday afternoon that National Guard members will be “everywhere” in Los Angeles in order to quell the violent protests that have entered their third day. “Well, we’re going to have troops everywhere.

Large crowds gathered near a federal detention center in downtown Los Angeles Friday protesting immigration raids that had taken place throughout the city.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom plans to file a lawsuit against the Trump administration early Monday morning over the president’s deployment of 300 National Guard troops to Los Angeles, even as the LAPD chief admitted Sunday his cops “are overwhelmed” by the violent anti-ICE riots taking over the city.

Members of other agencies are getting detailed to assist ICE, while Justice Department personnel shift to immigration-focused teams and prioritize immigration-related cases.

Trump's move to send the California National Guard to Los Angeles came despite forceful opposition from the state's leadership.
