Australia’s stand-in skipper, Steve Smith, completed 10,000 runs in Test cricket during the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium on Wednesday.

Steven Smith joined the elite club of batters to complete 10,000 runs in Test cricket on Wednesday on the first day of the opening Test in Galle. Smith came to Sri Lanka on 9999 runs after just missing the landmark at his home venue,

Smith is now the 4th Australian batter with 10,000-plus runs in Tests. He joins the likes of Ricky Ponting (13,378), Allan Border (11,174), and Steve Waugh (10,927). Overall, Smith is the 15th batter in Tests to unlock the milestone.
