The lawsuit is the latest escalation in a decades-long fight between state and federal officials over how to manage the park's growing bison population.

Montana state officials are suing National Park over its bison management plan. The case argues that park officials have intentionally cut Montana out of management plans or ignored the park’s science in an effort to boost park bison numbers and avoid vaccinating them against brucel-losis.
