Israel told citizens on Sunday to avoid going to cultural and sports events abroad involving Israelis in the coming week, following attacks last week on Israeli soccer supporters in Amsterdam.

Paris police said Sunday that 4,000 officers and 1,600 stadium staff will be deployed for a France-Israel soccer match to ensure security in and around the stadium and on public transportation a week after violence against Israeli fans in Amsterdam.

French President Emmanuel Macron will attend Thursday’s France-Israel football tie, which is being played under high security, his office has announced. Macron’s attendance was to “send a message of fraternity and solidarity after the intolerable acts of anti-Semitism that followed the match in Amsterdam this week”,

A Nations League football match between France and Israel will go ahead as planned next week at the Stade de France in Paris despite the clashes that erupted in Amsterdam following a game between Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Ajax,
