A transgender teenager from Jurupa Valley competed in Saturday's CIF track-and-field finals despite drawing national scrutiny and criticism from President Donald Trump over her participation earlier in the week.

Jurupa Valley's AB Hernandez won the high jump and triple jump at the CIF State track and field championships Saturday in Clovis.

The high school junior shared first place with her closest competitor because of a new policy put into place earlier this week in response to her success.
