Tiger Woods says his mother, Kultida, has died. Woods did not give details on the Tuesday morning death of his 78-year-old mother.

Tiger Woods abruptly withdrew from the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines on Monday, saying he was still processing the death of his mother. Kultida Woods died unexpectedly last Tuesday at the age of 80.

Kultida Woods, the mother of Tiger Woods, golf’s biggest star, died Tuesday, according to the 15-time major winner. He did not provide give her cause of death.

From the 1997 Masters to Tiger Woods’ appearance in his new TGL venture last week, Kultida Woods was normally close by or in the gallery, which is why the golf world was stunned when Tiger Woods announced his mother had died early Tuesday at the age of 78.

The Genesis has become a mainstay event on the PGA Tour calendar in the lead up to The Masters, but one of the biggest names in golf unfortunately won't be partaking in the tournament after dealing with a personal tragedy.

Tiger Woods is returning to play for the first time when he tees it up in the TGL after backing out of the Genesis Invitational after the recent passing of his mother.

Tiger Woods is expected to return to action Tuesday for a TGL match in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., marking his first appearance since his mother's death on Feb. 4, TGL announced via X on Saturday.

After taking a respite from golf following his mother Kultida's passing, Tiger Woods will take part in the upcoming TGL match on Tuesday when his Jupiter Links GC squares off against New York Golf Club.
