Two correctional officers were stabbed by inmates inside a maximum security prison in Shirley, Massachusetts. The assault happened at the Souza-Baranowski correctional center Wednesday night.

A spokesperson says two correctional officers were stabbed by inmates and three others were injured at a Massachusetts maximum security prison.

The attack began around 6:20pm when prisoners stabbed two corrections officers multiple times inside the maximum-security facility. Another three guards rushed over to help and were also injured during the attack, according to the Massachusetts Department of Correction. Two of the five officers suffered stab wounds.
