Ohio State remained at No. 3 in the major polls following its 49-14 win over Marshall on Saturday. The drudgery of facing weak out-of-conference opposition finally comes to an end next week for teams like Ohio State and Ole Miss after a series of blowout wins for both programs early in the 2024 season.

Ohio State is 3-0 after a clean nonconference slate. The Buckeyes opened with a 52-6 win against Akron before a 56-0 victory against Western Michigan. OSU then had a bye week before collecting a 49-14 win against Marshall on Saturday.

For two weeks, it seemed as if Ohio State’s special teams play was on the verge of becoming a major strength. On Saturday in the 49-14 win over Marshall, it was a clear detriment to both the offense and the defense.
