In anticipation of this winter weather activity, NYCEM has already activated the City’s Winter Weather Emergency Plan. This entails bolstering staffing and conducting calls with the weather service, city and state agencies and utility partners for the sake of coordination.

New York City emergency officials have issued a “Cold Weather Alert” amid a stretch of below-freezing wind chills that will only get colder into next week. The coldest air of the season so far will crash into the tri-state on starting early next week with “feels like” temperatures Tuesday dropping as low as -7 degrees.

New York City will experience temperatures in the 40s and 30s this weekend, dropping to a low of about 19 degrees Sunday night. There is also a chance of rain and up to 4 inches of snow in the coming days.
