An Ohio-based furniture retailer is shutting down for good, closing doors at all locations across the nation. As it closes, the company promises slashed prices and deep discounts as they work to get rid of inventory.

Mega furniture retailer American Freight is closing hundreds of locations nationwide as part of Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings filed by its parent company.

American Freight has 328 locations nationwide, but as they cease operations, they are closing their 15 locations in Georgia. That's bad news for some shoppers in Dublin and Macon, who are seeing their locations close.

American Freight Furniture and Mattress has announced it is closing its nationwide chain of stores including the one in Athens. American Freight operates a store in the Athens West Shopping Center off Atlanta Highway. The store is one of 15 stores in cities across Georgia from Savannah to the Atlanta metro area, according to its website.

The Tacoma location of American Freight will close along with the other 327 stores in the United States. The parent company of the nationwide appliance and furniture store, Franchise Group, began Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in federal court in Delaware.

The store closing announcement comes days after American Freight's parent company announced restructuring as part of a bankruptcy filing.

Store closing sales have begun in-store and online, with discounts of up to 30% off the lowest ticketed prices.
