A firmware update HP released earlier this month has been bricking some customers' OfficeJet printers – and there's still no fix available.

Since about the second week of May, the HP support forums have been rife with complaints of OfficeJet printers bricking after they automatically installed the company’s most recent firmware update.

The firmware update effectively acted as malware to block third-party cartridges from working with the printer, the 2020 lawsuit alleged.

Following a new update, some HP customers grow disappointed after discovering that they could no longer use third-party ink cartridges in their HP printers.
