The pilot in a fatal plane crash at the Provincetown Municipal Airport on Sunday has been identified, according to Cape and Islands District Attorney Robert J. Galibois' office. Christopher Burroughs, 60, of Attleboro, was the only person aboard and was pronounced dead at the scene, the press release stated.
A computer simulation ordered by the government showed that everyone on board would have survived if the concrete berm had been made of materials that easily broke apart.
TSB says at one point the pilot took a sharp turn from a low height to return to the regular flight path, causing the crash. KBM Forestry Consultants Inc., which employed the flight crew, says it has updated safety policies and flight-time requirements for pilots.
