The Chicago Cubs have traded for Kyle Tucker and Ryan Pressly from the Astros and are one of possible teams for Alex Bregman in free agency.

The Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs finally came to an agreement on a trade to send two-time All-Star closer Ryan Pressly to the latter of the two teams. This deal came with the understanding that he would ultimately have to waive his no-trade clause for it to happen,

The Chicago Cubs acquired right-handed relief pitcher Ryan Pressly from the Houston Astros on Tuesday.

ESPN's Jeff Passan reported that the Astros are sending reliever Ryan Pressly and cash considerations to the Cubs. In exchange, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reported that minor league pitcher Juan Bello will head to the Astros.

Months later, Bregman remains unsigned, and a resolution with his free agency does not appear any closer. Among the teams that have been linked to Bregman in reports include the Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers. But the reality is that none of the teams listed are close to signing the All-Star infielder.

After a few days of speculation, Ryan Pressly has agreed to waive his 10-and-5 no-trade protection to okay a deal that will send the veteran reliever from the Astros to the Cubs.  Houston will receive right-handed pitching prospect Juan Bello in return,

Ryan Pressly described it as one of the hardest decisions he has faced. The Astros’ request for him to waive his no-trade clause last week meant agreeing to move on from his family’s lifelong home and head into unfamiliar territory.

The Boston Red Sox have been closely connected to Houston Astros infielder Alex Bregman, but Boston may be out of the race.
