China showed off its liquid-fuelled intercontinental strategic nuclear missiles that have the "entire world under its strike range", according to state media. Beijing also revealed its first air-launched nuclear missile, the JL-1, which was displayed on a military truck.
From an upgraded, nuclear-armed missile with near-global reach, to air defence lasers, hypersonic weapons, and sea drones that could crowd its near seas, China sent a broad message of deterrence with its largest ever military parade on Wednesday.
The WWII commemoration parade in Beijing showcased the LY-1 shipborne laser weapon system and the DF-5C intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
