Lawmakers passed SB99 by Sen. Keith Kelley, R-Anniston and Rep. Mark Gidley, R-Hokes Bluff, requiring public schools to post the Ten Commandments alongside other historical documents. Gidley said the purpose was to recognize the importance of the biblical laws in the founding principles of the nation.
