Tropical Storm Barry made landfall early on Monday local time, forecasters said, just south of Tampico, Mexico. The storm was expected to bring heavy rains to the eastern coast of Mexico in the next few days, according to the National Hurricane Center. Barry formed on Sunday and was the second named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season.

Tropical Storm Chantal is forecast to bring heavy rains as it moves inland across northeastern South Carolina on Sunday. Tropical storm warnings were issued for portions of the two Carolinas, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.
