The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 5 p.m. Thursday to 9 a.m. Friday for portions of east-central Kansas and central and west-central Missouri. Counties included in the advisory are Miami County,

The forecast calls for a 20% to 30% chance of snow starting after noon, with the chance increasing up to midnight, the National Weather Service in Wichita said Wednesday.

Another massive winter storm is forecast to pummel the southern and eastern U.S., with impacts from Texas to the Carolinas.

The weather service says Kansas City has a low chance, less than 40%, of a dusting of snow and less than a 2% chance of seeing an inch of snow. Counties on the southern border of the Kansas City forecast area — Pettis, Henry, Bates and Linn counties — and surrounding areas are expected to see higher snowfall amounts.

Kansas law reads: “No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster or other nontransparent material upon the front windshield, side wings or side or rear windows of such vehicle which substantially obstructs, obscures or impairs the driver’s clear view of the highway or any intersecting highway.”
