U.S. Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens has been replaced at the federal law enforcement organization, and the Trump administration has selected Texas’s top border official, Mike Banks, to fill his boots starting Monday.

Banks has been serving as the Lone Star State’s first-ever border czar — a position created by Gov. Greg Abbott in 2023 to deal with the unprecedented influx of migrants.
