Erin has strengthened into a hurricane as it approaches Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, bringing heavy rains that could cause flooding and landslides.

Hurricane Erin is expected to move just north of Puerto Rico on Sunday morning, bringing rough waves and heavy rain. CBS News Bay Area meteorologist Jessica Burch is tracking the storm.

Tropical Storm Erin became the first hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, and was expected to soak the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico with heavy rain on Friday night.
