India took firm control of the second Test against England, thanks to a historic innings from captain Shubman Gill, who smashed a masterful 269 in Birmingham. G

A 203-run partnership between Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja helped India cross the 400-run mark in the first session of Day 2 of the Edgbaston Test.

India captain Shubman Gill posted his highest Test score of 168 not out as he continued to lead from the front against England at Edgbaston on Thursday. Gill was 114 not out after becoming just the seventh player to to score a century in each of his first two (or more) Tests as captain.

India tightened their grip on the second Test at Edgbaston, ending Day 3 with a commanding 244-run lead and nine wickets in hand. With KL Rahul and Karun Nair set to continue on Day 4, the visitors will aim to set England a 400-plus target,
