WASHINGTON -- Connor McMichael scored two goals, and the Washington Capitals extended their lead in the Eastern Conference First Round with a 3-1 win against the Montreal Canadiens in Game 2 at Capital One Arena on Wednesday.

Connor McMichael scored twice and Logan Thompson made 14 of his 25 saves in the third period as the Washington Capitals beat the visiting Montreal Canadiens 3-1 on Wednesday to take a 2-0 lead in their first-round matchup in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

All the same, the game showed that the Canadiens will all be ready to ride with the best of the east in the years to come. Brian Wilde explains.
