The National Weather Service warned that the Guadalupe River could surge to nearly 15 feet—5 feet above flood stage—by Sunday afternoon.

In areas that see rainfall and increased cloud cover, temperatures are expected to remain below seasonal averages into next week, providing some relief from the summer heat. However, much of central and southern Texas, areas in the recovery phase from the catastrophic flooding, will face dangerous heat instead of renewed flooding.

The Kerr County sheriff paused search efforts Sunday because of more flooding from heavy rain in Central Texas. Oklahoma, Arkansas and New Mexico were also under flood watches.

Ground search operations were suspended Sunday in Kerr County, Texas, where crews have continued to look for those still lost after catastrophic July 4 flooding.
