The PS5 Pro generated quite a bit of interest in Japan. The console found tens of thousands of buyers and beat sales of the PS4 Pro in the same period.

Famitsu has revealed launch numbers for the PS5 Pro in Japan, and it's off to a solid start with over 78,000 units sold.

Earlier this month, the PlayStation 5 Pro finally arrived in stores. And while the lack of a disc drive and the $700 price tag have been unpopular with players, Sony President Hiroki Totoki has assured investors that sales of the mid-generation console update haven't been negatively affected.

PS5 Pro's week one sales in Japan are impressive as the mid-gen upgrade shifts over 78,000 units in the region.

Arguably the PS5 Pro‘s biggest obstacle was its large price tag. Selling for $699.99 here in the U.S., that is a big ask for a mid generation upgrade. However, if Japan sales are any indication, it seems gamers see the value of the new and improved console.
