Developer PopCap Games announced today that Plants v. Zombies Heroes, a digital card game take on the whimsical series, is now available worldwide as a free-to-play release on iOS and Android devices.

PvZ Heroes will also include new characters from Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 like Super Brainz, Z-Mech, Citron, and Rose. It launches with a dozen Heroes and hundreds of other characters.

That plays into deck strategy, of course. Both the plants and zombies have single-player missions, plus you can use either side in both ranked and casual live multiplayer battles.

Plants vs. Zombies Heroes will have over 300 unique characters with unique animations, which EA hopes will help the game become more accessible to a larger group of people.
