There were, of course, fans of both, and “The Paper,” Daniels and Michael Koman’s spin-off of “The Office” for Peacock, feels tailor-made for folks occupying that part of the Venn diagram. Featuring two Michael Scotts and one Leslie Knope, it feels like the child these two sitcoms never had.

It doesn’t help that the show uses the same title as the very funny and far superior 1994 movie “The Paper” starring Michael Keaton as the editor of an often chaotic and ridiculous (and therefore realistic) New York City newsroom.

The Paper may be taking a page out of The Office's book, but Dunder Mifflin feels like a world away. Set in a fictional Ohio newsroom, The Paper centers around publisher Ned (Domhnall Gleeson) and the staff of struggling journalists working for newspaper The Truth Teller.
