Michigan football recruiting goes through many ebbs and flows, and sometimes the ebbs exceed the flows. Look no further than the 2024 recruiting class, which had a more torrid start than other classes only to be weakened by late decommitments and multiple prospects who appeared likely to wear maize and blue end up elsewhere.

Michigan Football cornerbacks coach LaMar Morgan has been one of the best recruiters on head coach Sherrone Moore's staff since being hired in March 2024, and has the Wolverines among the top schools for the No. 2 player in the nation's capital.

Michigan football is certainly on the upswing after closing the 2024 season strongly, not just on the football field, but with the new players it's bringing in. The Wolverines did the unthinkable in two straight games -- beating rival Ohio State (the eventual national champion) in Columbus and a full-strength Alabama team in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

Ohio State had the most talented roster in the country. The first is a fact. The second is, technically, an opinion -- one shared by everyone on ESPN's committee selecting the top 100 players of the 2024-25 season -- but it'd be tough to come up with a compelling argument for someone else.

One such prospect is four-star Chicago (Ill.) Morgan Park athlete Nasir Rankin, who included the Wolverines in his 'Top 11' list last week. Other programs to make the cut included Oregon, USC, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Illinois, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Nebraska, Duke and Kansas State.

Michigan State football kept its recruiting momentum going for the 2026 class on Saturday, landing four-star tight end Edward Whiting.
