Some routes on the Red and Blue lines will be operating with single-car trains while MetroLink works to improve security and safety for passengers.
Metrolink plans to welcome two new rail cars to the Southland on Tuesday. They’re the first of a new fleet of supposedly safer train cars that Metrolink ordered a few years ago.
Because some MetroLink cars are out of service due to camera problems, the light rail line is running a mix of 1-car and normal 2-car trains.
Metrolink says they're aiming to install a new car at the front and back of as many trains as possible. Each new car costs $1.7 million, and they hope to have all 117 cars phased in within 18 months.
