A federal investigator said in a affidavit Tuesday that a man charged in connection with the fatal mass shooting at Tuskegee University on Saturday told him that he fired his gun but denied aiming at anyone.

A Montgomery man arrested following the mass shooting at Tuskegee University initially denied firing his weapon, but later told federal investigators he did fire his gun but did not shoot anyone, according to federal court records.

Authorities said Montgomery resident Jaquez Myrick, 25, was seen leaving the scene of the shooting. Myrick was allegedly found in possession of a handgun with a machine gun conversion device and was arrested Sunday on a federal charge of possession of a machine gun, an Alabama Law Enforcement Agency spokesman said.
