The historic Los Angeles building featured on the cover of a 1970 album by iconic rock band The Doors was damaged in a fire Thursday, officials said.

The former Morrison Hotel, made famous by The Doors and their 1970 album sharing the same name, was significantly damaged by a fire in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday

The fire was categorized as a major emergency incident, with at least 17 fire companies on the scene, the L.A. Fire Department said.
