The cellphone ban going into effect at hundreds of Los Angeles public schools next year will look different from one campus to the next, a new set of rules being decided for each school depending on concerns and issues raised by parents,

The cell phone ban at the country’s second-largest school district will begin early next year, and now officials are detailing just how the massive change will take effect. The Los Angeles Unified School District voted to ban cell phone use during the school day in June.

The Los Angeles Unified School District Tuesday released more details into the pending cellphone ban on school campuses, starting in January 2025. The district’s presentation to the Board of Education showed the LAUSD’s policy will align with the Phone-Free School Act,

LAUSD says its student cellphone ban will start Feb. 18. Schools will decide how to restrict phones, from telling students to put them in backpacks to using magnetically sealed pouches.

Starting in February, Los Angeles Unified School District students will be required to stow away their cell phones, smartwatches, and earbuds during the school day.
