A man in his 20s, who was a passenger in a car, has died in a crash on a motorway. The Citreon C1 he was travelling in hit a barrier and then collided with a Mercedes near to Rivington Services on the M61 at about 23:40 BST on Tuesday, Lancashire Police said.

The driver of the Skoda, a man from Cambridgeshire, was pronounced dead at the scene, while another man, the driver of the Toyota, was also pronounced dead. Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision on the M6 Northbound past Tebay Services.

A driver was travelling on the wrong side of the road before a horror crash on the M6 that killed five people, according to reports. The collision happened near Tebay Services in Cumbria on Tuesday (October 15).
