As police investigate the destruction of mature trees in downtown Los Angeles, the blatant vandalism has reignited concerns about the city core's decline.

A man has been arrested in connection with dozens of city-owned trees in Los Angeles that were cut down with a chainsaw over the Easter Holiday weekend.  The suspect, Samuel Groft, 45, was arrested for felony vandalism.

Los Angeles police say they have arrested a man who used a chain saw to cut down large trees in at least three neighborhoods around the city. Outraged residents began reporting the destruction last Friday afternoon.
