The Dallas Stars have shown interest in trading for New York Islanders center Brock Nelson, according to Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic. As the March 7 trade deadline approaches, Dallas finds itself in a favorable position to add a key player, thanks to potential cap flexibility from Tyler Seguin’s long-term injured reserve (LTIR) designation.

Brock Nelson hasn’t scored in the last 16 games. He went the entire month of December without finding the back of the net and his last goal came on Nov.

The Islanders certainly aren't out of the playoff race as they are five points back of the second wild card spot occupied by the Columbus Blue Jackets yet you want to get ahead of the curve if you don't think the team will be successful.
