Animal rights activists gathered outside of the Los Angeles Zoo on Sunday, calling for the release of an elephant who has spent more than three decades in the facility's care.

Animal advocates are urging Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey to release African elephant Joyce to a sanctuary, launching a billboard and petition campaign to end the park’s elephant exhibit.
